Hendry Burr was a son of Jane Warrander of St. Fergus, Aberdeenshire.
Hendry 'Hank' Burr was a member of 25 Anti-Tank Platoon of S Company. He landed on 17 september 1944 near Renkum. On 18 september 1944 he fought with B Company near the brickworks in Renkum. The Germans attacked their positions and it became apparent that B Company was heavily outnumbered and the decision was taken to pull back. Serjeant Burr remained with the rear-guard, and it was here that he was killed. 
Burr was given a field burial in the 'Onder de Bomen' General Cemetery in Renkum. He was later reburied at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek.
