According to the Roll of Honour published by the Society of Friends of the Airborne Museum (Jan Hey 1999 and 2011) Thomas Barry Brierley was pilot of Stirling LJ-982. On 21 september the plane took off from Fairford Airfield on a resupply mission. It was hit by flak and crashed at about 1545 hrs, 500 metres north of the 'De Slop' farm, one and a half km south of the river Rhine at Zetten. He was initially buried in the churchyard of the Vluchtheuvel Church at Zetten.
According to the author of "Green On!"(Arie-Jan van Hees) LJ-982 was the lead plane of the third resupply serial arriving in the Oosterbeek area. After dropping the supplies in the Hartenstein Hotel area LJ-982 was shot down by German fighters.
