John Michael Bewley served as a section commander with No. 9 Flight, G Squadron. He landed near Wolfheze on 17 september 1944, flying a Horsa together with Sergeant Albert Midgley. The glider had been loaded with a jeep, its trailer and about eight passengers of Headquarters 1st Airborne Royal Army Service Corps.
Bewley and Midgley stayed with the HQ RASC for the next three days. They stayed in a house opposite Hartenstein Hotel and together with some Dutch resistance they collected resupply-containers. 
According to the Roll of Honour published by the Society of Friends of the Airborne Museum (Jan Hey 1999 and 2011) Bewley died of wounds in the St. Joseph Psychiatric Hospital at Apeldoorn and was buried in the local 'Heidehof' General Cemetery on 8 december.
