William Edwin Bamsey was a son of Griffith Charles and Louisa Bamsey of Port Talbot.
According to the Roll of Honour published by the Society of Friends of the Airborne Museum (Jan Hey 1999 and 2011) Bamsey was killed near the junction of Wolfhezerweg and Utrechtseweg. He given a field burial beside Zonneheuvelweg in Oosterbeek.\
According to the book Arnhem 1944 (Martin Middlebrook 1994)  Bamsey was a member of A-Company. Corporal Bob Allen tells he was walking between some trees beside the road when he heard shots. He saw Bamsey falling on the ground and when he reached him he saw Bamsey had been shot through his throat and his neck was broken. Probably Bamsey was the first man of the 3rd Battalion who got killed during Market Garden.
