- Stanley Victor Armand was a son of Stanley Armand and Ellen
Elizabeth Armand of Bayswater, London.
- On 21 september 1944 Armand was one of the air despatchers on board
of Stirling LJ-843. The Stirling took off at Keevil airbase for a resupply
mission at Arnhem. According to the Roll of Honour published by the
Society of Friends of the Airborne Museum (Jan Hey 2011) Stirling LJ-843 was shot down by Flak and crashed north
of Oranje Nassau's Oord at Wageningen. The crew and air despatchers were
buried at the 'Onder de Bomen' cemetery in Renkum. Allaway was later
reburied at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek.
