Peter Lancelot Andrewes was a son of Harry Lancelot Hale Andrewes and Winifred Andrewes, of Beckenham, Kent. He was married to Elizabeth Rose Andrewes (nee Presbury).
Andrewes was posted into 166 squadron on 21 February 1944. On 13 June 1944 he was aboard Lancaster MK III ND399. The plane's target was Gelsenkirchen in Germany. At about 02.30 hrs the Lancaster was shot down by a German night-fighter. It crashed at Ugchelen-Willemsbos, directly west of Apeldoorn. All 7 occupants died in the crash. Their names are:
